Links

Just a few of my favorite places on the internet:

Music Library Association
I especially like the links sections, "Is Music Librarianship for You?" and the annual conference.

The University at Buffalo Music Library
While a lot of the resources are for UB students only, there are some great digital collections and information about the music librarianship program.

American Musicological Society

Society for American Music

My last.fm profile
This tracks the albums and songs I listen to, recommends new music, and displays my listening trends.

My Pandora profile
Some stations I set up to keep me listening while I'm at work and far away from my itunes.

Musicovery
A very cool way to discover new music based on your mood (Energetic vs. Calm and Dark vs. Positive) or desire to dance and which genres you like.

Stereo Mood
Yet another way to discover new music, but this time specific to your mood or activity.  The music is taken from the best international music blogs which makes for many new bands I've never heard of from all over the world.

WXPN 88.5 FM Public Radio

WPFK 91.9 Radio Louisville

WEXT Exit 97.7

AllMusic
A great resource for artist biographies, influences, and discographies.  I like how albums are described not only by genre, but also style, theme, and mood.

CD HotList

The Weekly Feed
A great blog for discovering new songs.

The Rest Is Noise - Cheap Seats
This page lists cheap ways to see live classical music performances throughout the United States and the UK.  Check out the rest of the blog by the music critic of the New Yorker!  Its a great resource for a lot of topics.

The Taruskin Challenge
This blog feeds my need for discussion about classical music and also contains great links and my favorite - the Musicology Must-Reads section.
